Fort Santiago, Manila

For history lovers out there, this fort guards the entrance to the Pasig River, and presents some beautifully manicured grounds, plazas and fountains, as well as the Rizal Shrine museum.\n

Boracay

A small island in The Philippines renowned for its stunning beaches and bustling nightlife. At only 4.5 miles long you could probably cycle it all in a day, followed by a romantic dinner overlooking the ocean - tell them it's a special occasion and they'll make it a night to remember. Make sure you take all the medication you need as the shops aren't as well stocked there as on the main islands.\n

Taal Volcano

Located on the island of Luzon and the second most active volcano in The Philippines, hiking tours are available and worth the trip. There's a boat to catch from Manila, and if you ask they can go past the fish farms near the island, which hold over a hundred thousand tilapia until they're ready for sale - quite a sight. You can ride on horseback up the volcano, which is a quicker way up and down, though it can be a little unnerving on the steep slopes. Alternatively, opt for the hiking option - just make sure you're wearing suitable shoes, then just follow the hoof prints.\n

The Chocolate Hills

Worth a visit for the name alone; quite a view. It doesn't take a huge amount of time to visit as there's only one viewing platform to see the landscape from, so we definitely recommend making the most of it and heading early - we're talking 4am - to get the sunrise over the Chocolate Hills.

Manila Ocean Park

A favourite for many, with sea lion shows, animal encounters including sting ray and penguins, and over 14,000 marine creatures to see. A great day out!\n

A protected National Park and with some incredible cave formations, couples can book guided tours direct from their hotels. The tour guides always get incredible reviews as does the breathtaking scenery.\n
