Can anyone recommend a good wedding band? November 27, 2011 07:17PM | Registered: 9 years ago Posts: 2 |
We're getting married next July and are desperate to find a good live band for our evening reception. We want a band that can play covers of modern music but also some classics from 60s onwards, and someone who will really get people dancing! Does anyone have any recommendations? Our reception is near Bicester / Oxford. Thanks!

Have you considered using an entertainment agency? Function Junction are excellent.
They have a wide range of bands so you can find the perfect one for you! its a great way to save time and your still guaranteed and excellent and entertaining band!
Hope this helps

For more intimate settings, a Jazz Band is perfect or if you'd like something to entertain your guests at a champagne reception.Soulful jazz music can help create a chilled out atmosphere to your event or you can liven it up with some foot tapping swing numbers.Whatever your preference, a Jazz band will definitely ooze sophistication at your event through guitar, bass and saxaphone melodies.

Wow, lots of bands to choose from! Have you considered hiring a band that could potentially play during your ceremony / whilst guests are eating or chatting?
Lots of bands can do stripped back acoustic sets during the day and reserve a proportion of their repertoire for a full band, electric set in the evening to get your guests dancing.
I'd suggest, instead of just choosing a band outright, talk to an expert - they'll point you in the right direction and ensure that the entertainment for big day is a success!

Hi.
For anyone looking for a band, I'd say it depends on how much you can afford, and where you are based. I'd recommend considering whether you want to risk getting an amateur band, or getting one with professional musicians. If you can't afford a pro band, then consider a DJ: if they are good they'll know which are the songs that really work well, and can alter the songs based on the audience reaction. Sometimes bands play songs that they really like, but actually not many people dance to. If you can afford a pro band I'd recommend Hula Groove if they are available. They sound and look great live, and you can see from their website that they have lots of positive feedback.
Good luck!
