North Yorkshire weddings

The Priests house is a small, exclusive wedding venue in the heart of the fabulous Yorkshire Dales. With the magnificent backdrop of the grade 1 listed Barden Tower and the splendid Upper Wharfedale valley, this is a quite superb historical setting with fabulous views up and down the valley. As its name suggests, The Priests House was originally a 16th century chapel serving the Tower and the local area and consists of the House itself together with the newly renovated Chapel.

The House itself is ideal for small, intimate ceremonies and wedding breakfasts for up to 30 guests with the ceremony in the Old Chapel and wedding breakfast in the House itself. Lovingly restored, it has retained many of the medieval features including the open fires, fabulous log beams, and quaint dressers. It is especially intimate in the darker months when the real fires and candles are fully lit and the lights are turned down...

The Chapel having stood empty for some 75 years has been sympathetically refurbished and brought back to its former glory. It can host ceremonies up to 90 guests and is ideal to also use for your wedding breakfast and evening reception venue too (capacity 75).

The Barn at Barden
Why not combine your event or evening with an overnight or weekend stay at The Barn at Barden. It sleeps up to 20 and is located on the same site as The Priests House. Perfect so you can enjoy your evening without having to worry about driving home.

The photo opportunities are endless, with superb backdrops of the ruin of the once magnificent tower on one side and the expanse of the Wharfedale valley on the other.

Yes. Both the main room in the House and the Chapel are licensed for civil ceremonies.

Yes but the arrangements would need to be discussed.

Sorry, we do not as a rule allow corkage.

We provide an excellent catering service in-house.

There isn't a great deal of decorating required, the Chapel and House speak for themselves. We can provide a fabulous floral service. Access is usually granted from first thing in the morning of the wedding but arrangements can be discussed.

The bar is 11pm, last dance 11.30pm and carriages for midnight

Whilst we do not have noise restrictions, the acoustics of the venue itself will dictate the noise levels.

Only on 5th November and New Years Eve except for hand held sparklers....there is livestock in the fields all around...

One of the bedrooms in the bunk barn has a double bed...

We have a comfortable bunk barn that sleeps up to 20 guests. Great for families and younger guests, but perhaps not for gran or your favourite aunt!

There are plenty of B&B's in the valley, with hotels in Skipton, Ilkley and Grassington which are all equidistant.
