Can we have exclusive use of the venue?
We don't think you should have to share the spotlight with anyone else- so we ONLY do exclusive use.
Are you licenced for civil ceremonies?
Yes, we have a choice of rooms licensed for weddings.
Can we have the wedding ceremony outdoors?
Currently we can offer you the ceremony outdoors in the grounds, providing the legal requirements are completed indoors- ask us for more details.
Do you charge corkage if we supply our own wine?
Yes, you can bring your own wine for a corkage fee.
Can we use our own caterers?
Our catering is provided by award-winning Dine. We will on occasion allow other caterers if there are religious needs.
From what time can we get access to decorate the venue?
Please ask your event manager- we are an exclusive hire venue so can usually be flexible.
What time does the reception need to finish?
We would usually expect the reception to finish at midnight, but it's possible to finish later. Please ask.
Are there noise restrictions if we have a live band?
We will work with your band to ensure the noise levels won't disrupt our neighbours- don't worry, this won't disrupt your enjoyment!
Are fireworks allowed?
Yes, we allow fireworks on a limited number of dates per year. Please ask your event manager.
Is confetti allowed?
We allow natural confetti outside, none inside.
Are candles allowed?
Naked flame isn't allowed in the house but we offer a number of safe alternatives- ask us to show you on your viewing!
Is there a honeymoon or bridal suite?
YES- there is one of the largest honeymoon suites in the whole of Europe. It takes up the whole of the south front!
Is there accommodation on site?
Yes we have 12 rooms in total, each individually designed
Is there additional accommodation nearby?
Yes, and we can arrange transport to and from hotels as well, just ask!

Spectacular Howsham Hall is stately country house with a funky vibe available for exclusive hire for your wedding. Nestled in a secluded valley the Hall is completely private yet lies just 30 minutes from York.
This exquisite Jacobean house has been completely refurbished by an acclaimed interior designer. The result is spectacular- a stylish mix of modern and contemporary.
The Great Hall's polished wood flooring and open fire makes it a wonderfully romantic place to hold your ceremony. The Drawing Room is a light and airy room for your wedding breakfast. Additionally, there is the Riverside Bar and Terrace for reception drinks, and the Dining Room for more intimate celebrations. Guests can also make use of the nightclub area and funky Billiard room. There is also the option to make use of the extensive grounds with a marquee.
The accommodation at Howsham Hall is the most impressive in the area. Enjoy your first night of married life in the spectacular Bridal Suite which is one of the largest in Europe! There are a further 11 suites for your guests.
