Frequently asked questions
Can we have exclusive use of the venue?
Absolutely. Exclusive use gives you complete privacy as well as all 50 bedrooms, six lounges, 4 ceremony rooms, gardens and our lawns. Exclusive Use starts from 1.00pm on your wedding day until 11.00am the next day.
Are you licenced for civil ceremonies?
We are! You can get married outside on our Victorian style wedding pavilion or inside our beautiful 14th century house. We have our Bybrook restaurant for larger weddings, The Dunstanville if you want a bit more character and some cosy lounges for something a little smaller.
Can we have the wedding ceremony outdoors?
You can. Our Wedding Pavillion can seat 100 people. We would need to have a wet weather plan which would either be the Bybrook or Dunstanville but we will discuss with you.
Do you charge corkage if we supply our own wine?
Sadly we do not allow corkage. If this was an incredibly important part of your day then do get in touch with us to discuss further.
Can we use our own caterers?
We will provide all the food and drink for your wedding from our brilliant Michelin Stared kitchen. You are welcome to bring in your own cake company as well as any fun extra's like maybe a pizza van etc. Just speak to us first as we might be able to do the same thing and save you some money!
From what time can we get access to decorate the venue?
If the hotel has no other events the day before you are welcome to come along then. As we are a hotel we always have leisure guests staying with us (unless you have exclusive use). Therefore, you would typically set things up the morning. However, you have an amazing banqueting team on your wedding day who will set everything up for you (so you don't really have much to do!)
What time does the reception need to finish?
This depends on the package you go for. If you have Exclusive Use we can extend your party until 1.00am. With non exclusive use your party would finish at midnight.
Are there noise restrictions if we have a live band?
No noise restrictions. You just need to be aware of the party finish time.
Are fireworks allowed?
Sadly not. We are based in a village and have lots of fields with livestock around us so it wouldn't be fair on the animals or villagers. You are welcome to bring along sparklers though.
Is confetti allowed?
Of course! Please just make sure it is biodegradable.
Are candles allowed?
They are. We ask if they can be in holders or lanterns though.
Is there a honeymoon or bridal suite?
We have a lovely Bridal Suite called Lordsmeer. We do also have a range of other rooms that are very luxurious and perfect for the happy couple on the wedding night.
Is there accommodation on site?
Yes. We have 50 bedrooms in total spread across our Manor House and row of Mews Cottages. We do also own The Castle Inn pub in the village which has a further 12 bedrooms.
Is there additional accommodation nearby?
If the pub is fully booked we are a 15 minute drive away from a town called Chippenham. There are a few different accommodation options here.
