Frequently asked questions
Can we have exclusive use of the venue?
Yes. When Rowton Castle is chosen as the wedding venue, the castle and grounds are exclusively yours for your wedding day. You and your guests will have the luxury of sumptuously decorated rooms to relax in, the gentle rolling grounds to explore, and the most impeccable service our team can offer.
Are you licenced for civil ceremonies?
Rowton Castle is licensed to hold civil wedding ceremonies in three stunning spaces to perfectly match your requirements; whether that is a wedding for 2 or 110, and everything in between, either inside our sumptuous castle or outside in the grounds. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to saying “I Do”.
Can we have the wedding ceremony outdoors?
You can. The romantic Linden Belvedere is nestled in the picturesque gardens, surrounded by Shropshire countryside, wildflowers and a towering avenue of lime trees; it is the perfect outdoor setting.
Do you charge corkage if we supply our own wine?
Our “No Corkage” option allows you to supply your own wine for the wedding breakfast, and champagne or sparkling wine for the celebratory toast. On the wedding day, our wonderful food and beverage team will be on hand to pour this for you and your guests. From the commencement of speeches, or the serving of your dessert course (dependent on your chosen order of the day), any unopened bottles will be stored for you to collect the following morning.
Can we use our own caterers?
You needn’t worry about the procurement of caterers, your food for the day will be prepared by our wonderful team of in-house chefs. Our menus have been carefully created by Head Chef Jordan, and Chef-Owner Steve Parke and their kitchen team using only the freshest produce and delights from the local area.
From what time can we get access to decorate the venue?
Access is available from 7.30am on the day of your wedding for your suppliers to dress chairs, deliver floral arrangements, set up your cake, etc. Please do be aware that if a band is chosen for your evening celebrations, that access for set-up is not possible prior to your Wedding Breakfast ending.
What time does the reception need to finish?
At 12.30am the bar will close and entertainment will draw to a close.
Are there noise restrictions if we have a live band?
There are no noise restrictions as such. A band will be located in Cardeston II and must finish at 11.30pm. If a separate DJ is booked and set up in Cardeston I, entertainment can continue until 12.30am.
Are fireworks allowed?
Due to compliance with planning and environment agencies, and out of courtesy to our neighbours and the local farming community, we do not allow the use of fireworks, smoke bombs, laser displays, or the release naked flame lanterns.
Is confetti allowed?
Fresh or dried petals (even bubbles) are perfectly fine. It is best to detail this on your invitations to avoid any misunderstanding on the day.
Are candles allowed?
Candles are not restricted in their entirety. They are allowed in candelabra’s or in tea light holders on your tables. For safety reasons they are not permitted on any mantelpieces or with artificial flower arrangements or fabrics.
Is there a honeymoon or bridal suite?
Of course. The Honeymoon Suite is our most imposing room and is included within the venue hire charge.
Is there accommodation on site?
There are 19 beautifully appointed bedrooms, available exclusively to the marrying couple, accommodating 43 people overall. Honeymoon Suite aside, guest accommodation at Rowton Castle comprises 2 Suites, 4 Four-Poster bedrooms, 6 Double bedrooms, 3 Family bedrooms, 2 Twin bedrooms and 1 Single bedroom.
Is there additional accommodation nearby?
There are a couple of very nice boutique hotels and guest houses locally that would make the ideal location for the extended family the night before the big day or on the wedding day itself if bedrooms further to our 19 are required.
