Frequently asked questions
Can we have exclusive use of the venue?
Yes we give exclusive use for every wedding. We do not allow anybody other for meals, drinks, or even to stay in the bedrooms. Only bedrooms that are required by guests are paid for .. the rest stay empty at no charge You and your guests have full use of the every public area inside the hall and of the gardens allowing a lot of flexibility for choice of rooms for meals, ceremony if applicable, and for socialising.
Are you licenced for civil ceremonies?
We are licenced for ceremonies in the garden, and in 4 other rooms giving options for any size of ceremony for you to choose from from 5 guests to 180 guests, and providing a back-up room for a rainy day if the ceremony was planned for outside.
Can we have the wedding ceremony outdoors?
Yes, we have a great outside wedding ceremony area and have back-up rooms in case the weather is not ideal.. If it is an uncertain day we set for both options and leave the decision until as near to the ceremony time as possible
Do you charge corkage if we supply our own wine?
We do not offer corkage, but we are happy to provide any requested drinks, from wines to beers or even vegan baileys at one wedding as an example.
Can we use our own caterers?
All catering is produced in house by our team, but we are happy to tweak the menu to include your favourites as we only have your menu to cater that day so we prefer to give you what you would prefer. We give a free taster meal so you can try things in advance to decide.
From what time can we get access to decorate the venue?
We ask couples to bring up things in advance and we put out place settings, decorate the chairs with sashes, put out table centres, table sprinkles etc, and then the bride or groom can see when they arrive to get ready any time from 10.30 onwards, or we can send pictures over. We have a play day in advance so we know exactly how the couple would like it to be.
What time does the reception need to finish?
The music finishes at midnight, and the bar closes 1pm fridays and saturdays, 12pm on other days
Are there noise restrictions if we have a live band?
We do not have restrictions but as the acoustics are very good in the ballroom if it is too loud guests cannot talk so often couples prefer the bands to keep the music lower than the absolute maximum possible.
Are fireworks allowed?
We do not allow fireworks as we have horses close by.
Is confetti allowed?
We allow confetti outside but not inside and it needs to be paper or natural - anything biodegradeable...
Are candles allowed?
We do not allow any real flames as we are very aware of the fire risk. Therefore candles need to be led.
Is there a honeymoon or bridal suite?
There is a bridal suite with a twinkly ceiling and large enough for getting ready in. It also has a balcony idea for taking pictures from.
Is there accommodation on site?
We have 15 bedroom, all available for your wedding from singles, to twins, to family rooms. Rooms are from £80 based on 2 sharing including breakfast and only rooms stayed in are paid for.
Is there additional accommodation nearby?
there is a holiday in and a travel lodge nearly, plus some B&B accommodation and other hotel not far away
