About Rookery Meadow

Rookery Meadow is a unique outdoor wedding venue offering a beautiful blank canvas with private lake & meadow to make your own. Hire includes three days' exclusive use, plus event management and help and support to source and book suppliers.

Rookery Meadow is a true blank canvas venue, meaning you have complete creative and financial control over every element of your special day. Whether you are seeking a relaxed day, festival wedding or classic marquee wedding, our flexible approach gives you a genuine chance to create something truly unique.

Campers are welcome whilst you can spend the night under the stars in our bridal bell tent.

Benefit from free unlimited hire of props from our Barn of Curiosities, including the rustic old oak bar, tree of cake, milk urns, log slices, jam jars, straw bales, blanket boxes and much more.

The lake features a jetty and lake walks, offering a beautiful spot for a ceremony or reception. Or have your marquee/ tipi away from the lake in the meadow, where ancient oak trees offer shade and there are two acres of grass ready for you to fill with guests and games.

Hire is £3,500, there is no VAT to pay and the price includes:
- exclusive use for three days (Friday to Sunday)
- generator and wiring
- unlimited free prop hire from the Barn of Curiosities
- support to research and contact suppliers
- event manager on the big day
- freedom to camp
- bridal bell tent
- shower room

Facilities such as a marquee/ tipi, catering, drinks, entertainment, celebrant and flowers are not included and are hired in by each couple. We support you in seeking out the things that meet your needs and have a list of recommended suppliers to inspire you. There is no corkage!

FAQs

Yes. You will have exclusive use for three days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

No. But we welcome celebrant ceremonies which work wonderfully under our old oak tree or overlooking the lake. We have a number of lovely celebrants we can put you in touch with. We also welcome couples for their reception only if you choose to marry in a church or nearby licensed venue before coming the the meadow.

Yes. Many of our couples choose to have a celebrant ceremony under the 400-year-old old oak tree in the meadow, or on the lake front overlooking the tranquil water.

No. We do not charge corkage meaning you are welcome to provide your own alcohol. We can help you find an external mobile bar (such as a horsebox bar), arrange any necessary licenses (e.g. Temporary Events Notice), or run a free or charged bar for you.

Yes. You are free to use whatever caterers you choose. We can recommend some local suppliers or help you find caterers to provide your ideal food choice if you need assistance.

Access is from 10am on Friday until 6pm that evening. You and your suppliers are welcome from 9am on the day of the wedding.

Midnight. With music no later than 11.30pm. Campers are of course welcome to stay but with no alcohol served or music played after 11.30pm.

We will monitor the volume of live music and advise if the volume needs to be reduced. As an outdoor venue this is often influenced by the wind. As we are in a natural environment we must be respectful of the neighbours and the animals nearby.

No due to animals living on site. We encourage you to enjoy the clear night skies and spot shooting stars instead!

Yes as long as it is biodegradable.

No naked flames are permitted apart form fire pits provided by a marquee/ tipi company. We have lots of LED candles in our Barn of Curiosities however which you are very welcome to use.

Yes. Our hire price comes with a bell tent featuring a wooden double bed and bedding, plus a shower room with hot shower and flushing toilet.

As well as our bridal bell tent, we welcome campers and glampers either in their own tents or camper vans or staying in bell tents hired in for the weekend. We have several suppliers we can put you in touch with to arrange glamping bell tents for your guests. We limit glamping to 35 people unless otherwise agreed.

Yes lots. We are six miles from three market towns, Bungay, Harleston and Halesworth, each of which have hotels and B&Bs. There are also numerous holiday accommodation options nearby including self-catered lodges. We have a list available.
