About The Foundling Museum

Situated in the heart of Bloomsbury, central London, and set in an elegant, Georgian-style building, the Foundling Museum provides a beautiful, unique wedding venue in central London for your civil ceremony or reception.

Tucked away in a leafy corner of Bloomsbury and overlooking Brunswick Square, the Foundling Museum is perfect for couples looking for a unique city wedding or civil partnership. Situated within a Grade II-listed, Georgian style building, the Museum will be exclusively yours for your big day.

From an intimate civil ceremony to a glamorous reception, the Museum can host ceremonies and wedding breakfasts for up to 100 guests and informal parties for 80 guests. Exchange your vows in the enchanting Court Room, adorned with the finest Rococo interiors in London. For a grander celebration, the Georgian-style Picture Gallery awaits, nestled under eighteenth-century masterpieces. Descend the grand, sweeping staircase as a newly-wed couple and enjoy champagne and canapes across the Museum whilst we transform the space for a romantic wedding reception in one of our historic rooms. .

Celebrate your marriage with a night of dancing with a DJ and uplighters in the Study Studio featuring the powerful poem by Lemn Sissay OBE “Superman was a Founding'' which references some of the world’s favourite fictional characters including Harry Potter, Cinderella, Han Solo and many more.

The Foundling Museum tells the remarkable story of the Foundling Hospital, established in the 18th century by Thomas Coram to care for and educate London’s most vulnerable children. The artist William Hogarth and the composer George Frederic Handel played a big part in realising Coram’s vision. Together, they transformed the Hospital into the UK’s first public art gallery, and one of London’s most fashionable venues.

Say ‘I do’ on the site of this important historic institution. By choosing us as your venue, you will be making a valuable contribution to the Foundling Museum. As a registered charity, all income from venue hire supports our work with marginalised and vulnerable children.
