Romance in the Stones - A historic, legendary, hidden gem of a wedding and events venue, in the heart of the Kent countryside.
The Lost Village of Dode Is undoubtedly one of the most exclusive and sought after Wedding venues in Kent.
Far, far away, in a magical place, where time has stood still, in an almost forgotten valley between Luddesdown and Holly Hill, nestled in the North Kent Downs in the South East of England, there stands a beautiful, charming, enchanting, privately owned, romantic, former Norman church - the only trace of the now ‘lost’ village of Dode.
This unique, lovingly restored, Norman, deconsecrated church, located within an amazing setting, is now available for intimate and private events, for up to 42 people:
- wedding ceremonies
- wedding receptions
- wedding breakfasts
- civil ceremonies
- blessings
- handfastings
- renewal of wows
- Christening and baby naming ceremonies
- Anniversaries and birthday parties
- Family gatherings
- Wakes
Far from being a corporate business, Dode is owned and run by Douglas & Mary who love to share their "jewel of our lonely countryside" with a few selected couples. It is small in scale and intimate holding only 42 people.
Lost in the North Downs and approached by a winding lane overhung by trees with breathtaking views of this secluded countryside, ceremonies are held in a building built of flint and oak with the interior lit by candles and braziers, the floor strewn with straw and sweet smelling herbs.
