About Anderton Boat Lift
Cheshire’s Anderton Boat Lift, known as the ‘Cathedral of the Canals’, offers a spectacular river setting. Built in 1875, it was the world’s first successful boat lift & is considered one of the country’s foremost pieces of Victorian engineering.
Located between the River Weaver and the Trent & Mersey Canal, Cheshire’s iconic Anderton Boat Lift has recently started offering couples the chance to wed in this picturesque riverside setting.
The site’s Lift View Marquee hosts ceremonies and receptions for up to 100 guests and is available from March to September. It has all the wedding facilities you could possibly need including wooden flooring (perfect for dancing space), refreshments and/or buffets (including breakfast), hot water facilities and serving counters. Bespoke boat trips are available to take friends and family on a relaxing cruise along the river and through the lift.
The venue prides itself on its friendly and flexible approach; couples have access to the marquee before and after the big day in order to set up and break down, taking some of the stress out of planning. The impressive structure and waterside location provides one-of-a-kind photo opportunities.
