Frequently asked questions
Can we have exclusive use of the venue?
Yes - we never book back to back events and only ever one per week. You have access the day before to bring your own decor and anything else you wish, and the day after to take down and clear away. We very much want you to feel you can make it really how you want.
Are you licenced for civil ceremonies?
Yes we are. Our beautiful Ceremony Room in the house can sit a max. of 75, or we can be outside where numbers are of course unlimited.
Can we have the wedding ceremony outdoors?
Yes, it works very well - very informal, but with the bride able to make a special arrival to meet her groom and everyone gets a good view.
Do you charge corkage if we supply our own wine?
No, we do not charge corkage. You are welcome to bring your own table wine for the meal, and even your own welcome drinks if you wish. If you don't want the hassle, Mark, our barman, will be happy to discuss how he can help and of course he will run the bar in the evening as the party gets going.
Can we use our own caterers?
You are welcome to choose whoever you wish to arrange and serve your food. Depending on what you decide to do, we can of course recommend suppliers who we know and trust, but it's entirely up to you.
From what time can we get access to decorate the venue?
You are welcome here the day before to set up and the day after to take down
What time does the reception need to finish?
Our Premises License requires alcohol sales and music have to finish at midnight.
Are there noise restrictions if we have a live band?
Your band/disco need to be sensible. We do not have any sound limiting system in place, but we measure and monitor noise level and manage it directly with the band or disco. We normally find them very cooperative and rarely have any problems
Are fireworks allowed?
Sorry, sadly no fireworks as we are very rural, so standing crops and livestock and other animals are too much of a risk, but sparklers are welcome!
Is confetti allowed?
Yes, of course - the more natural and biodegradable the better. Foil confetti guns and balloons with foil are less welcome as it never goes away!
Are candles allowed?
Yes, but high candelabra with open candles in the marquee are not a good idea. Tea lights and church candles are fine, even better when in some sort of glass container.
Is there a honeymoon or bridal suite?
We do not offer accommodation, apart from camping, but there is an ensuite bedroom in the house available as some private space for the bride and groom during the day and evening.
Is there accommodation on site?
No, but there are plenty of local options. Let us know if you need places to put people up.
Is there additional accommodation nearby?
Yes, there are plenty of local options. Let us know if you need places to put people up.
