About Reading Museum & Town Hall

Reading Museum & Town Hall is a magnificent Grade II listed building. Centrally located in the town and adjacent to all major transport links, it makes an impressive venue for your wedding.

We have three beautiful rooms licensed for civil ceremonies. Each of our rooms offers a perfect backdrop for your special day. Our lovely Grade II listed town centre venue can cater for weddings and receptions of all sizes from small intimate gatherings to dinners for up to 200 people.
The Concert Hall is the largest of our rooms with magnificent chandeliers, ornate woodwork and the historic and unique Father Willis organ, which it was designed to house.
The Victoria Hall is an elegant Regency room with large windows, high ceilings and exquisite chandeliers. It is in the oldest part of the present Town Hall, built in 1786 on the site of the Reading Abbey 'guest house' to hold the Assizes, and was also the council chamber and assembly rooms. It was remodelled in Italianate style in 1864.
The Waterhouse Chamber contains some of the Town Hall's most impressive features including an enormous stone fireplace and stunning stained glass windows. It is named after Victorian 'Gothic revival' architect Alfred Waterhouse, who is famous for his work on the Natural History Museum in South Kensington. He also designed this part of the Town Hall, including the clock tower and facade, to 'wrap around' the earlier building, using locally-made brick and terracotta.
Every wedding is different and our Special Events Coordinator and Chef will work with you to plan a menu that all your guests will enjoy.
