About North East Soiree
North East Soiree is one small team of musicians who provide live music for weddings in the North East of England. Including Duos, Trios, String Quartet, Jazz, Ceilidh band with caller, add guitar and vocals for a Party covers band and finish with DJ
North East Soiree was formed in 2002 and has performed at over 1200 weddings and events in all the popular venues across the North East of England.
The String Quartet has a vast selection of over 500 tunes available and arrange special requests at no extra charge . The quartet arrive half an hour before the ceremony and then play whatever music you like followed by 90 minutes during the drinks reception / photos.
If space of budget is tight, then all the music for quartet is also available on Violin and Piano (we have our own electric Piano and mini PA). This combination works really well for Classical, Film and Popular music and there is no extra charge for special requests.
Start the evening with our Ceilidh Band straight after the 1st dance. Full instructions and demonstrations are given and it's so easy that anyone can do it without any previous experience. All just a great fun start to the night to get the party started and it doesn't matter if the moves are all right or not. A Ceilidh is such a fun way to mix both sides of the families, work colleagues, friends and distant relatives - everyone just mixes straight away and the party has well and truly started.
Often the Ceilidh band play till the interval then we can add singers and guitar to turn the band into a dynamic and spontaneous Party Covers Band, followed by our own DJ with your own playlist.

£250 Violin and Piano Duo for ceremony and drinks reception (or 2 hours). £350 Trio (either String or Jazz) for ceremony and drinks reception (or 2 hours). £450 String Quartet or Jazz Quartet for ceremony and drinks reception (or 2 hours). £400 for Ceilidh band with caller up till 11:30pm. £450 for Ceilidh band with caller up till 11:30pm and DJ till midnight. £750 for Party Covers Band 2 sets or up to 1 hour and DJ till midnight. £800 for Ceilidh band with caller and Party Covers band till 11:30 and DJ till midnight.
We allow 1 hour but can often set-up in less especially if we have played in that venue before.
3 hours is the absolute maximum time we can hold up a violin or viola - any longer than that and the players will end up with neck and shoulder strain. We would need a half hour recovery break in the middle to play longer than 3 hours but we need to charge significantly higher fees for anything above 2 hours. Ceilidh sets are up to 2 hours as longest single set but we are happy to play 2 sets if everyone is able to dance that long. The singers voices get tired and so we need to limit the party band sets to 45 minutes with a short break or 1hour with a long break (both based on 2 sets). We can do up to 85 minutes as a single set if time is tight and we try to be as flexible as possible if the wedding is running late to make best use of the time available.
