About Ruth Mackman Celebrant

Have the day of your dreams with a wedding ceremony written just for you. I offer a friendly and professional service for celebrations, mainly in Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire but I am happy to travel further afield for your special day. Please get in touch for a no obligation chat.

It's my pleasure to help make your special day just perfect, turning ideas into a wonderful occasion that you'll remember for all the right reasons. I'll listen to what you want, offer advice and guidance, and will work with you to create a special, very personal ceremony. I'll be friendly, professional and enthusiastic, and will do everything I can to ensure you enjoy the preparations leading up to your day, and the day itself.
You might already know what you'd like, but if you're not sure I'll be happy to talk you through the typical elements of a ceremony - readings by friends and family, music, vows, exchange of rings, whether you'd like to sign a certificate of your vows - and also some of the less well-known options, such as hand-fasting, blessing the rings, and sand or wine ceremonies. All of these parts of the ceremony can be personalised, so they have special meaning to you.

FAQs

A registrar is able to conduct a legal wedding ceremony, a celebrant ceremony is not a legal wedding, but rather it is a personalised ceremony to celebrate a wedding.

Both ceremonies offer a personalised service to celebrate a wedding. A humanist ceremony is non-religious, whereas a celebrant-led ceremony may include elements of faith, or faiths, and spirituality if this is what the couple would like.

Yes - I will take a brief from you and spend time listening to you both talking about your relationship, and what you want for the ceremony. I will draft the service and let you review it, and make changes, so you completely happy with it. If you want to write parts of it, then I will be happy to incorporate your words too. Everything about the celebration ceremonies I take is personal ... so I'll work with you however you'd like.

Many couples book a year in advance - usually once they've found their venue, they like to know that I will be able to be with them on their special day. But sometimes I get a call from a couple, who are tying the know in few weeks or months' time ... if I can, I'll always do my best to help.

Yes - you might already know what you'd like to say, but I can tell you a little about what other couples have said to each other, and share examples with you.

No, you're completely free to decide what you'd like to include. The only thing that can't be included, is a suggestion that this wedding celebration is an actual, legal wedding ceremony. For that reason I'm happy to suggest wording for the exchange of rings and vows that does not suggest this ceremony is creating a legal marriage.

Yes - very happy to celebrate the love and commitment of any couple :)

yes - if it's important to you that your views and beliefs are reflected in your ceremony, then I can help you to do that

It's always good to meet at least once- you get a feel for me and I can get a much better idea for what's important to you. But meetings can always be done on zoom, as I've done with couples who live abroad and wish to celebrate their wedding here, and also to cut down on the need to travel, which can be hard when you're busy juggling all the aspects of life and planning for a wedding

No, my ceremonies are a celebration, not a legal marriage or civil partnership ceremony.

Our Sustainability Commitments

I am proud to run my business in as sustainable way as I can. I always offer couples the option of meeting face to face, but most of the preparation can be done by zoom, which cuts down emissions and unnecessary travel. I provide electronic copies of all the documents needed, no hard copies are exchanged before the ceremony. As a special touch, I do print a keepsake copy of the service for my couples, but this is printed on Lokta paper, which is made by hand, and Lokta is a sustainable crop.
