Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between a celebrant and a registrar?
A UK registrar is a government official bound by rules and legislation. They perform legal marriage registration, this can be done before or after your wedding ceremony. If you choose they can conduct this legal registration at a Register Office for a fraction of the price it costs if you ask them to come to your wedding venue. A celebrant is not bound by rules and legislation they can create a wedding ceremony for you that will be completely bespoke. Your celebrant led wedding ceremony can be held anywhere, your celebrant will get to know you, usually over many months and will write a ceremony that reflects you both as a couple. Your celebrant led wedding ceremony can be as traditional or alternative as you like.
Can we write our own ceremony or vows?
Yes you can write your ceremony if you want to, this is quite unusual but all things are possible with a celebrant! Usually I will write the ceremony for you as a draft based on all the information you have shared with me and everything I know about you as a couple - you are free to make any amendments or additions. We can re-draft it as many times as you like until you are completely happy with it. I can write vows for you or support you to write your own vows.
Is there anything that has to be included in a service?
With a celebrant wedding ceremonies there are no 'musts' or 'should' or 'has to be's' ! Everything and anything is possible, it is your ceremony my aim is to make it a perfect 'fit' for you both.
Do you cater for LGBTQ+ weddings?
Why wouldn't I? I love creating weddings for all couples.
Do you cater for multi-faith weddings?
Yes, its wonderful to be able to combine the traditions and beliefs of different faiths.
Do you need to meet us before the wedding day?
I aim to meet all my wedding couples in person if distance means this is impossible we will zoom or skype. Its important to me to meet you and get to know as much as possible about you, that way your wedding will be truly you.
