Running a wedding competition with Guides for Brides

For a quick-win marketing boost, a well-placed competition can be just what your wedding business needs. Here at Guides for Brides, we help our advertisers gain both exposure and sales leads with targeted, relevant competitions. Here's what you need to know…

Why wedding competitions work

Competitions are a great way to promote your business to thousands of potential customers, through our website, social media and direct via targeted emails. A benefit to wedding competitions is the specific nature of the entrants: you know that they are genuinely interested in your product or service. This means that a follow-up email, ideally offering a discount code or offer to all entrants, will have a very high conversion rate.

How you can get involved

We run at least one wedding competition each month, which enables your business to promote a new service or product to our couples, or to boost your enquiries during a slower period. For featured and spotlight advertisers, we don't charge a fee; it's simply part of the service we offer.

Your competition must genuinely be giving something away, so consider the prize a marketing cost. However, you may find you more than cover that cost if you can offer optional upgrades. The better the prize, the more entrants it will attract, as the competition is relevant to more couples. As a result, you will receive more entries and more data. The prize can be one big prize, such as a weekend away or free venue hire, or several smaller prizes such as a jewellery set or a wedding veil.

Relevant leads for your direct marketing

In addition to great instant publicity for your new product or service, we supply competition sponsors with the contact details of all those who consent, which is typically more than 70% of entrants. This is a fully GDPR-compliant process and allows you to greatly expand your marketing list with relevant customer data.

Marketing

All competitions are marketed on our Competitions page, Facebook, Instagram, and our weekly B2C newsletter. You can see examples of previous successful venue competitions and product competitions here.

Example of a Successful Competition Run by Guides for Brides

Over the past 3 years, we've run a fantastic competition with Rachel Sokhal Bridal Accessories.

All of these competitions were highly successful and had a great consistency, with 2019's having 575 entries, 2020's having 773 entries and a whopping 922 entries in 2021.

With most, if not all, of these competition entries being engaged individuals themselves, our client received a huge number of new leads without lifting a finger! Being a paid advertiser, Rachel Sokhal was able to run a competition free of charge, with the only real cost of running the competition being the £200 value of goods to give away. They drew in hundreds of potential customers as a result.

As a paid advertiser, running a competition with us is free of charge. If you are not a paying advertiser but would like to run a competition with us, the cost is £300 + VAT and includes lots of social media coverage, at least 1 national newsletter feature reaching 29,000 couples, and a complete list of GDPR regulated leads. Please note that we do not cover the cost of the goods to be won.

Get in touch with us today to start your competition and help your business grow!
