Instagram users will know how effective the image-based social site has become for business over the years, introducing paid adverts, Instagram Stories, and a wealth of analytics to help us put our businesses in front of our customers. But they haven’t stopped there! Say hello to Instagram TV.
What is Instagram TV?
Instagram TV, also known as IGTV, is an app created by Instagram and designed for watching longer, vertical videos. Unlike Instagram, videos on IGTV haven’t got a short recording limit on them. Each video uploaded can be up to one hour long and similar to actual TV, IGTV has different channels.   Â
Where can I watch IGTV videos?
You can watch IGTV videos on the normal Instagram app by heading to explore (the magnifying glass icon on the bottom of your feed) and clicking on the IGTV Category OR you can download the app directly to your mobile. On the app, videos start playing as soon as it’s opened which is great as you don’t need to search to get started. Or you can do both.
How can IGTV help my business?
IGTV makes it easier for businesses to get in front of their audiences and be discovered by new people. By being able to upload longer and permanent videos you’ll be able to build stronger connections with customers. IGTV will also include clickable links in the description of your videos (which normal Instagram posts don’t allow), making it easier for users to directly view your website. You can now also save Live videos as IGTV videos.
Can anyone upload videos?
Yes. Anyone can create and upload a video to IGTV. However, the app is aimed at what Instagram calls ‘creators’, also known to us as ‘influencers’, for example, Kim Kardashian. Here at Guides for Brides, we believe all businesses to be creators and trendsetters across the globe, so the more of us that are using it the better!
How do I add an IGTV video?
- Open the Instagram app and head to Explore (magnifying glass) on the bottom of the screen.
- Then click the IGTV category in the explore options
- When IGTV opens, click on the plus sign on the top right corner.
- Choose a vertical video you want to upload. These have to be already saved onto your phone.Â
- Once the video has loaded press the next button.
- Give the video a title, description and choose whether or not you want to make it visible on your facebook page.
- Then press post. Â
Alternatively, you can record a Live video on your Instagram Stories and save this as an IGTV video when you are finished recording. Head over to our Instagram to see our latest IGTV uploads.
