Job Description - Experienced PHP Web Developer

Permanent full time role.

Guides for Brides are a fast-growing, innovative digital company based in a stunning rural location on the edge of Wantage. We have several popular websites and Apps at the core of our business, each puts brides and grooms in touch with hotels and wedding suppliers in the UK and luxury hotels worldwide. You don’t need any experience of weddings; we don’t work directly with couples; we give them great online features and they share exciting data with us.

We have a great opportunity for an experienced web developer to join our existing in-house creative team.

This is a really varied and interesting role as we go into a fast growth phase; you will be involved with all aspects from coming up with great ideas to designing and building new functionality, to integration testing, right through to delivering your project to our marketing team and analysing results.

As we are a small team we are looking for someone with strong problem solving skills to find creative solutions. We’ll be counting on you to be reliable and proactive.

If you are also self-confident and adaptable with experience of managing a small team or working as a lead developer there will be great opportunities for career progression as the company grows, but a great developer who’d rather work as part of a team will be equally valued.

Does this sounds like you?

  • You have at least three years experience working with PHP and MySQL.
  • You’ve got a good working knowledge of Javascript and JQuery, Laravel, Bootstrap, WordPress, LAMP stack, and you are proficient in HTML / CSS / SASS skills as well as GitHub.
  • You have a flair for front-end development with a good eye for UX, or have full stack capabilities.
  • You’ve got really good communication skills; we’ll want you to share your projects and plans with non-technical team members
  • You are aware of the business implications of design and can help the company make the right decisions for sustainable growth
