Despite endless claims during the last couple of years that Twitter is dying, it doesn’t look like it is - in fact it looks like it’s still going strong, especially for businesses. If like us, you were expecting to invest more time in other social media channels, such as Instagram, and let Twitter slowly drop off your radar, you’d be really missing out.

According to Statista, “in 2019, the social network audience size is projected to reach 275 million monthly active users worldwide. Twitter is still one of the leading social networks worldwide and a popular marketing channel”. To help you get the most out of your Twitter account and not miss out on this business buzz, we’ve put together the 5 Top Twitter Tips for B2B Success.

  1. Share compelling content

One of the best things about Twitter is there is no right or wrong answers or even timings - this Worldwide platform is active every hour of the day. However, one important rule to follow is to make sure you’re sharing content that is relevant and authentic to your target audience. Conducting some market research and having a look at what other industry professionals are sharing is a good place to start.

  1. Use engaging hashtags - but keep it short

It’s very easy to get carried away with hashtags and many people believe the more the merrier, however, this isn’t the case. It’s important to keep your target audience in mind.  What type of thing would they be searching for? A couple planning their wedding might search for hashtags such as #WeddingIdeas or #WeddingInspiration. They will not be searching for #WeddingDressSale7January2018, but more likely #weddingdresssale. Make your hashtags short and snappy, and consider whether someone might search for that term.

  1. Images, Images Images,

With platforms like Instagram around, we forget how important images are on other social media channels. Visual content is still extremely important for engagement, even for businesses. An appealing image will also help you catch peoples eyes and increase the chances of them retweeting.

  1. Keep an eye on what’s trending

On the left-hand side of your twitter page, you’ll be able to see ‘what’s trending’ around the world. Keep an eye on this on a daily basis to see what everyone is chatting about, it’s a great way for you to write relevant content and increase your tweet engagement.

  1. Get involved in host hours

You may have seen host hours (also known as Twitter chats) using hashtags such as #WeddingWednesday or #WeddingHour. These are a brilliant way to engage in conversation with other like-minded businesses and even your target audience. Host hours often take place on a certain day and at a certain time on a weekly basis. Engage with relevant host hours to increase your brand exposure and don’t forget the chosen hashtags must be used in every post in order to join the conversation.
