Top 10 Things to Ask Your Photographer
Finding the right photographer can be a challenge. With so much choice, what makes one photographer different from the next? The answer lies within their experience, photo style and price. Before booking your photographer, we recommend that you ask these questions – just to make sure you book with no regrets!
Is a pre-wedding photo shoot included in the price? Many photographers offer engagement shoots which are not only great fun, but they enable you to develop a relationship with your photographer before your big day, making your wedding photo shoot more comfortable and natural.
Can I see some examples of your work? Looking at a couple of past wedding albums is a useful way to see what the photographers work and shooting style is like.
Do you provide full-day coverage? Asking what time the photographer starts on your wedding day is a key question. Do they capture those all important getting ready moments? What time do they expect to leave the reception in the evening?
Do you work with an assistant? It is useful to know how many photographers there will be at the wedding. Some bring an assistant to focus on capturing the guests and their reactions so the main photographer can focus solely on the couple.
Do you shoot in the photo-journalistic style? Understanding the style that the photographer shoots in is very important as you may have a vision of how you want your wedding photos to look. It is important to check that your photographer understands the style of wedding photo you are looking for and can deliver this successfully.
How long shall we set aside for photos on the big day? In terms of organising your day and the timings between each event, it is useful to know how long the photographer intends to take on the wedding photo shoot after the ceremony.
How soon after my wedding will I get to see my proofs? After the big day is over you will be desperate to relive it and see those amazing wedding photos! It is always useful to ask how long you will have to wait so you are not disappointed by a 2 week turn around.
What are your different wedding packages? Most photographers offer a range of wedding photography packages and understanding the differences between packages and prices is very important. Some may include a wedding album or engagement shoot, whereas others may not.
Is an online gallery available of the photos? This is a great way to share your wedding photos with your guests so that they can order photos independently.
Do you have insurance? This is not something that many brides would think to ask their photographer, as it is often assumed. However, just checking that they have insurance is a great way to cover your own back if anything were to go wrong.
