The stunning new Baha Mar Resort and Casino is an ongoing $3.5 billion dollar project, setting out to create the largest luxury gaming resort in the Caribbean. Scheduled to open it’s doors for business on March 27th, the resort has had to delay it’s grand opening to May 2015. We visited the resort yesterday and are glad that the company has held back on it’s opening until completion, sticking to their brand philosophy of perfection.
The stunning 1000-acre luxury resort will deliver a unique holiday experience. Comprised of five glamourous and unique hotels -SLS Lux, Rosewood, Melia, BahaMar and Grand Hyatt. The complex will also offer 42 shops, 2 spas, a championship golf course, an animal sanctuary, 3 art galleries, a mile of beach and a world class casino to keep you entertained.
Perhaps the main feature of the fabulous new resort is the Casino – situated in the Baha Mar Casino & Hotel, there will be 150 table games and 1,140 slot machines, making the casino the Caribbean’s largest.
Instead of a welcoming brass band, the entrance is still swarming with workers in hard hats and fluorescent jackets planting tropical flowers and huge palm trees and laying turf. The choreographed fountains and the 40 foot high wall of water to welcome guests to this “Riviera of the Caribbean” remain dry.
Despite negative feeling towards the delayed re-opening, we for one are glad that the company has made this sensible decision. And as owner has been aiming for perfection since the project started in 2006, it seems only right for him to delay for just a few weeks to add final touches to the landscaping and to give the resort’s training academy a few more weeks to perfect the white gloved skills and management training of several thousand local employees. We eagerly await the grand opening on 7th May and anticipate this becoming the hottest spot for destination weddings and honeymoons in the Caribbean.
