As time goes by, traditions unfortunately fade and new trends appear, and weddings are no different. Many couples now are jumping on the bandwagon and ditching wedding traditions and tailoring their day especially to them, and why the heck not! We’ve put together a list of new non-traditional wedding trends which are appearing more and more and we’re loving!
‘Bridesmen’
If your bestie is a boy why not include them in your bride tribe? The more the merrier in our eyes - whatever their gender it’s important to include your nearest and dearest.
‘Groomsmaid’
The same applies here if your a groom and one of your closest friend is a girl who’s to say they can’t be part of your groom’s party! It’s important to remember that your wedding day is your special day, don’t worry about traditions or what people think. Surround yourselves with people who keep you calm and will make your day special!
Bride Speeches
Although traditionally the father of the bride, groom and best man are the only ones to make speeches, Bride's now want to get up and say their bit - and we love it! If you want to thank your friends and family or say some special words about your partner you go girl! Rumour has it Meghan Markle is hoping to break tradition and make a speech at the Royal Wedding! How amazing would that be? Can you imagine making a speech in front of the Queen, no pressure Meghan!
Wedding Attire
Don’t get us wrong, we adore a princess dress but more brides are opting against a big, white dress and are going for a chic suit or even a jumpsuit. This option is ideal for a winter wedding or even a ceremony overseas, a lightweight linen suit could be the answer to all your prayers. We saw this new trend at this weekend National Wedding Show at London Olympia - so beautiful!

Non-White Wedding Dresses
If white isn't your colour then this new trend will give you life. Searches for 'Champagne' coloured wedding dresses have increased considerably over the last year and we don't believe you - SO beaut! These coloured gowns were extremely popular at The National Wedding Show, see pics below!Â
Women proposing
According to tradition, the only day women can propose to men is 29th February but the heck with tradition. We are all about girl power and think women should propose whenever they want!Â
Maternity Wedding DressesÂ
First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage - but not anymore. More and more brides today and rocking a beautiful baby bump on their wedding day and we think it's amazing. It's a lovely idea to make your wedding day not only a celebration of your love as a couple but your love as a family to be.Â
Beautiful maternity gowns, shown above available from Cloud Nine Bridal Wear.Â
