A Midsummer Night’s Dream

“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.”  ~ A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Struggling to find your dream wedding theme? With summer fast approaching, what could be more romantic than re-creating the magical Shakespearian play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Cast your creative mind to majestic feathers, wild blooms, suspended candles and swinging lanterns. Now you’ve begun to imagine your fairytale Shakespearian wedding, check out our dreamy inspiration.

Ettington Park

Dreamy bridal style – Jenny Packham’s 2016 bridal collection is inspired by Shakespeare’s enchanted kingdom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Featuring silk tulles, romantically sculptured corsetry and cascading silk chiffon, these dresses offer brides a delightful and magical look for their big day. The organza blooms and delicate floral lace celebrate the lavish artistry of nature, whilst the velvet bows and undertones of soft green evoke the beautiful shades of summer. UNITE Hair partnered Jenny Packham to create the perfect look on the catwalk with soft flowing Shakespearian inspired hairstyles.

A Shakespearian venue – With so many positively dreamy locations to choose from, many venues will perfectly complement the Midsummer Night’s Dream theme. One of our favourites is Handpicked Hotel’s Ettington Park; the hotel is a beautiful Neo-gothic mansion set in 40 acres of Stratford Upon-Avon parkland. Located in the heart of Shakespeare countryside, this hotel is the perfect place to host a Midsummer Night’s Dream wedding.

Luscious gardens – Every fairytale wedding needs magical gardens for the guests to enjoy. From manicured lawns and pristine tree lines to wild blooms in an overgrown enchanted wood – anything goes for this mystical theme.

Vintage signs – Place signs around your venue, displaying love or Shakespearian quotes. If you’re serious about your theme, then A Midsummer Night’s Dream has many heartwarming quotes which will make your guests smile.

Enchanted greenery – Decorate your venue and tables with luscious greenery to enhance your Midsummer Night’s look. Apart from looking great, another bonus is that green plants such as moss are a less expensive option than filling the venue with blooms.

Pretty peonies – All flowers are beautiful, so any bloom can fit the Midsummer Night’s theme. Our personal favourite is the gorgeous peony. Understated and rustic – this bloom oozes elegance and beauty and helps create the perfect enchanted kingdom look.

A wishing tree – Create the ultimate fairytale feel with a wishing tree. Your guests can write down a wish and hang it from the tree, helping guests to realise their own dreams. This is a unique focus for your wedding decor and will also provide your guests with some lighthearted fun.

Twinkling lights – From fairy lights and lanterns to tea lights and candelabras, keep your wedding sparkling with magical lighting. A popular trend for 2015 is suspended centrepieces; why not combine the two ideas and have suspended lanterns as your centrepieces? If your venue has a garden, make sure there is an abundance of twinkling lights to help create the ultimate fairytale.
