How To Plan A Wedding In Six Months

If you want to tie the knot ASAP, or you're on a short timescale, then don't panic! You can absolutely plan a dream wedding in six months. Here, Michelle Clarke, Senior Events Manager at Breadsall Priory Marriott Hotel & Country Club, shares her top tips on creating your dream day on a short countdown. 

Prioritise the priorities

It can be easy to get caught up in the fun, creative elements of wedding planning so the important bits become overlooked. The date, budget and guest list all have a massive effect on any wedding plans, so it is important to get these details sorted first. There's no point in sourcing the best caterers, florists and entertainment if you don’t yet have a confirmed wedding date! Get the admin out of the way, and enjoy the fun stuff. 

Be open to compromise

It's important to be realistic when it comes to managing your wedding expectations. You may have a meticulous plan of how you want every aspect of your wedding to be. But, it is important to remember that the main difference between a wedding planned in six months, and one planned in 18 months, is choice. Be prepared that your number one supplier may not be available and be open to going with alternatives. 

Find out what deals exist

A limited timescale doesn’t mean you have to pay rush fees, so don’t shy away from negotiating prices with suppliers or looking for last-minute deals. If you’re willing to do the legwork, you may find yourself surprised at just how many bargains you can find! Play on the strengths and connections that both of your friends and family have - you’ll be surprised at how many DJs, cakemakers and florists you may know!
