The question on everyone’s lips at the moment; what wedding dress will Meghan Markle wear on her wedding day? We’ve been chatting to award winning wedding dress boutique owner, Ellie Sanderson, on her predictions for the bride-to-be.
Do you think Meghan will go for a traditional wedding dress?
I’m sure Meghan will choose a dress that makes her feel amazing as all brides do. I do, however, suspect that she will not bow to British Tradition and choose something quite different and unique to her own personal style.
What material do you think her dress will be made from?
I think she will choose something soft, romantic and sleek, so possibly lace, chiffon or even organza. I really can't see her wearing a stiff taffeta, formal ziberline or brocade kind of fabric as they are really heavy and very formal.
Who do you think will design THE dress?
Now that's quite a question! I think possibly a Canadian designer or maybe a designer from LA where she was born. Claire Pettibone is romantic, gentle and very unique so I think she could be the lucky designer. I also adore the designs of MADE WITH LOVE bridal and think Meghan would too. Their designs are modern, sleek and fabulous. There is also Jesus Peiro who creates stunning, cool and relaxed dresses which I think Meghan could go for. I actually lose sleep thinking about this!
If you were to design Meghan’s dress, what design would you suggest for her?
Meghan has an amazing figure so I personally would suggest a fitted, sleek design for her, maybe with an overskirt for the ceremony that can be slipped off for the party to reveal a sexy little slinky dress. If not the overskirt, then a little jacket with sleeves that can also be taken off to transform her look for the evening. Oh and I really hope she has pockets – I do love a dress with pockets!
Do you think she will wear a veil?
Yes, I do. I think getting married in Windsor commands one and it can add formality to an informal dress. The longer the better I think too.
Sleeves or no sleeves?
Sleeves on a jacket that can come off for the party to make way for fun.
