Our Sustainability Commitments

Having planted almost 12,000 trees we are one of the 3 venues to reach the final of the Sustainable Wedding Alliance's award in the 'Building Biodiversity' category. Our maturing woodlands have been recognised by the Ordnance Survey as 'mixed deciduous woodland' and are developing into nature-rich eco systems. What does that mean? It means that we are changing the landscape! As well as all the tree planting - our couples also appreciate what we do to support them to have an eco friendly wedding. Here's the growing list of what we provide: * encouragement to use local brewery barrels etc to reduce the need to sort & recycle cans, plastics and bottles *facilities to sort, separate and recycle glass, card, plastic and cans *decor items to borrow / use from our prop box (reducing the need to make or buy items that you may never use again) *cutlery, crockery and glassware to use (reducing road miles and reducing the use of single use items) * limiting the availability of landfill waste disposal to just one 50L bin *discouraging food waste with forward planning with couples and their caterers *on-site accommodation (so guests can stay and enjoy a mini break in the countryside) (and reduce road use) * an air source heat pump for hot water in the Old Dairy (energy efficient heating) * solar lighting in the five glamping tents and throughout the woodland areas * filtered water supply to farmhouse from our own bore-hole (no chemicals) * ongoing woodland and wild flower meadow husbandry * encouraging couples to book local suppliers * encouraging couples to forage for decorative foliage from the hedgerows and woodland and to use locally-grown flowers for bouquets and decoration * energy-efficient lighting * use of plant-based cleaning and maintenance products * creative use of upcycled and pre-loved furnishings and decor throughout the venue And watch this space of a 2024 competition to reward couples who share our sustainability values!
