Friars Court - a privately owned 17th century Cotswold-stone house and barn set in 4 acres of peaceful, leafy, partially-moated grounds - makes an ideal location for both receptions and civil ceremonies.

Aside from the setting’s relaxed tranquillity, the main difference in Friars Court, as a venue, is the wider degree of freedom and flexibility offered to couples.

As a ceremony venue we have 10 licensed areas that can accommodate weddings ranging in size from 15 to 100+ guests. Three locations are genuinely suitable for out-of-doors weddings, while another two offer scope for guests to be outside.

For receptions, the available options range from: up to 36 guests to a sit-down meal in the Garden Room; around 100 in the Stone Barn and, with 5 potential locations, up to, and over, 200 guests if using a marquee.

The flexibility and freedom comes from how we work: we provide the setting; the helpful advice of experienced (with choosing, planning and setting up before the day) as well as behind-the-scenes back-up on the day itself. Everything else – from furniture, flowers, marquee, catering, photographer entertainment onwards – is brought in by the couple to tailor-make their own day.

That may sound daunting bearing in mind that a lot of couples have never done anything like this before. In practice, some, or all, of the wedding suppliers will have been drawn from our comprehensive recommendations list. Using ‘tried and trusted’ - rather than ‘picked at random’ - suppliers ensures that every couple has the wedding they want, the way they want it within the budget they want to spend.

Working this way means each and every wedding is as different and individual as each and every couple.
