About Guides for Brides

Guides for Brides Ltd started in 1995 when the founder, and now director, Alison Hargreaves, was planning her wedding. Despite having been involved in the wedding industry for several years she found it hard to find the more unusual businesses - such as a barn dance band, a string quartet and a hog roast company - that she wanted for her own wedding. If she found "word of mouth" so time consuming, what hope did other brides have if they were not involved in the industry?

Guides for Brides has gone from strength to strength and has consistantly been one of the most highly respected sources of wedding information in the UK.

The Website

Hitwise Logo

The Website continues to grow day by day, having had a complete revamp at the end of 2006. With the aid of search engine optimisation companies and a hugely ambitious Content Management System, Guides For Brides is aiming to be the Number One online Wedding directory for Brides within the UK.

www.guidesforbrides.co.uk receives in excess of 85,000 hits per month and has won a hitwise award 5 times out of 6 in the past 16 months.

It has over 55,000 business listings, a wedding fair diary with details of local and national wedding fairs, an information and advice section, and an incredible free wedding planner enabling couples to communicate with guests and suppliers, and manage their guest lists, online.

A forum is due to go online shortly, allowing brides to share experiences and ask questions.
