Book early? Why?

Purse
One of your best friends is getting married and you’ve been asked to be maid or matron of honour, which is all fantastic news but now you’re going to have to put together a hen weekend for all the girls (and of course it has to be better than the last one you all went on!).

Even though the wedding might still be quite a way off it doesn’t mean you should leave planning the hen weekend to the last minute. If you start as soon as you can then it will save you getting stressed out by trying to throw something together in a few days.

As people are tightening the purse strings at the moment one of the great benefits of starting to plan early is that the prices you’ll get will be a lot better than if you leave it until the last minute and you’ll have the chance to plan and work out which dates and destination will work out best. For example if there’s a big sporting event on in your chosen destination when you want to go then the hotel prices will go right up, but if you choose another weekend for your hen do then you will save a lot of money.

You will also get the best range of options by starting early; you can avoid the nightmare scenario of all the affordable centrally located hotel rooms being taken and all the activities that you want to do being booked up resulting in you not being able to do what you want and having to either pay an arm and a leg for accommodation or staying so far out of town that you’ve got to keep paying out for taxis.

You need to be prepared for any changes and the chances are that something will come up, so if you’ve got plenty of time then you will easily be able to handle anything that might happen. Changes made sooner are always easier to accommodate than anything at the last minute.

If you’ve got a date set well in advance then everyone can put it in their diaries or mark it on their calendars so that they won’t book anything else and you’ll have a better chance of them not having already planned something. It might be a good idea to occasionally remind the girls about the date of the hen do maybe by giving updates on how the planning is going just so they don’t forget about it and arrange to do something else.

You want to organise a hen weekend that will top all the hen dos that have gone before it and get talked about for a long time to come and this kind of momentous event doesn’t come together overnight and the more time you have, the more thought you can put in and the more everyone will enjoy it. Get everything arranged in advance so that when the hen weekend does come, you can relax and enjoy it as much as all the other girls.
