Hi there

Firstly, Congratulations!

There are lots of ways I've found to save money. We are getting married this November in a local hotel, not the first time for us though. We are having an evening wedding, saving on the sit down part of the day. Most hotels now offer a package of some sort for around £3000 so that's worth looking at. My sister is a florist so flowers will be at cost. Do you know anyone who could donate their services as a wedding present? A friend of ours has a vintage car and has kindly offered to chauffer us for the day. There are a few different threads on this forum of people looking to save money so it would be worth looking at those for other ideas!

Hope that helps

you can save on wedding dress by buying dresses online. My friends have bought their wedding dresses on the web and they are gorgeous. they are affordable and quality guaranteed. good service too.

Hi Tina

Thank you for your idea's.

It is my second wedding but my partners first wedding, so he would really like a sit down meal.

We were thinking of having an 'off peak' wedding to make it a bit cheaper.

My friend is making the cake for us which will be great as our young girls will help with the mixing etc so that it will make it extra special.

Thank you sagelee, I might go to the shops to try on dresses to see what style I like best and then shop on line. I have found one that I like on line for £250 just need to be brave enough to buy it, worried incase i dont like it when it arrives.

Off peak will save you, most hotels now do packages for a set price which would help you to budget

Good luck!

You can buy flowers yourself in a local supermarket and make flower decorations and your bride's bouquet yourself! Just mix lots of diferent flowers of preferred colour scheme and tie them up with a pretty ribbon! I did my bouquet with astramerias and it looked gorgeous! Btw I could help you with photography - I can do 4 hour package for 200 pounds for you if you are interested - just contact me

Hi! Congratulations! My fiancé and I are getting married on a budget this September, I had my dress from vivien of holloway for only £115 but there are some beautiful wedding gowns on eBay (new) and at discount/sale outlets too. Also we are hiring the groomsmen suits as they're not something they would wear again, so that's saved us money, some hire websites do offers like hire 5 suits get 1 for free and so on, others will offer to beat other prices if found cheaper elsewhere. Debenhams has beautiful bridal lingerie at a reasonable price. Our cake we decided to have an unusual cheaper alternative, a giant cupcake which is saving us a bomb at only £40. I'm making my own invites as I love crafts etc so I got everything I needed from hobbycraft and the range for a great price! Today I booked and paid for my flowers and buttonholes etc, I went in to my local florists and told the, exactly what I wanted, it's cheaper if it's smaller obviously, as well as if you have flowers that are in season at the time or all year around. I had my bouquet and 6 buttonholes for only £75 and they're beautiful, hot pink gerberas and lime green mini chrysanthemums, with pearls and ribbons and extra foliage. Bare in mind roses and lilies are the most expensive. My father is doing the photography as its his hobby/business on the side. We booked a five star hotel in advance which had offers online so saved money there, try www.booking.com Lastly we are getting married at a pretty registry office, in city hall, upgraded to a large room predecorated with aisle, own music and readings etc and it only cost £125 including registrar then an extra £70 to give notice.
Hope you have a beautiful wedding smiling smiley I've managed to book all this in only one week, as we only booked the date last Tuesday! So it's not as daunting as it may seem smiling smiley
Congratulations and good luck

Hi Karla

My opinion is that you can compromise on anything but your photos as they will be what you are looking at in 20 years time.

All best

Hi

Firstly congrats! I'm also planning our wedding for 2014 smiling smiley as need a lot of time to save! first work out your budget, make sure your venue and church if having one with catering are no more than half your total budget as its all the little things that cost :/

Off peak i.e. not from may to august are the times where you get the best deals, also getting married on a week day brings the cost right down, do DIY favours, invites etc, you can all the things you need on ebay (only use top rated sellers) I have saved a small fortune on wedding des off ebay! hiring centrepieces worked out really expensive, we have bought ours already from ebay and saved or THE RANGE if you live local to one do everything like table decs, favour boxes and much more! silk flowers are cheaper than fresh.

OR...... you could apply for dont tell the bride lol we considered it but im a control freak and wont let my hubby to be do it...takes the fun away lol

hope all the above helps xxx

Congratulations! I hope you have better weather in 2014!

Why not double up place settings with favours and give your guests wine glass charms. I handmake and sell them for cheap prices. Visit my website here at www.everlastingcrafting.com

If I don't hear from you, I wish you every bit of luck for your wedding day and beyond!!

From the point of view of a wedding venue manager....
- if you want to get the best deal you can from your venue ask for a quote, then tell them your budget. Dont just say "I'm on a budget" - everyone is on a budget of some scale! People seem to believe if they tell the venue their budget that they will inflate their prices to get the maximum £££ out of you - i cant speak for all but certainly on my behalf this is not true, the price is the price, it can just stop us all wasting each others time if you want a "top whack" wedding on an unrealistic budget, and allows us to advise accordingly the best we can do for your budget and requirements.
- If you have found the venue you genuinely want to book then ask if they have ideas to help you.
- Tell the venue if you would consider a late availability date.

The key to a wedding on a budget in terms of suppliers and venues are week day, unpopular or late availability dates.
I could do a wedding in January for practically half the price of August for example.

I'm getting married on a Friday, the discounts far outweigh the whole 'saturday wedding' thing for me... I figure if people won't take a day off work for the biggest day of my life then I shouldnt be paying for them to come !!

Good luck :-)

When getting costs from venues, check to see if VAT is included. We had quotes from our venue and our caterers, and only when we got the bills to pay did we realise that VAT was extra, and at 20% it added on almost £1000 onto the total cost overall.

But i bought my dress online (from monsoon), but also ordered a couple from TK Maxx, and returned happily to stores on the high street the ones that weren't right.

We've made 99% of our decorations, we made a 'postbox' for wedding cards by covering a cardboard box in floral wrapping paper (cost £3.50 from Hobbycraft over £15.00 online from amazon), table decorations are glass jars with the labels soaked off, offcuts of ivory lace glued round them, and then the day before the event we'll buy flowers from a local market.

Queen type wedding dress is very elegant, design point concentrated in the chest, from the chest down and ground natural, relaxed and comfortable. A font and the same type of style adapt to the queen for all occasions. From the figure, it is suitable for short body long legs, pear shape or a pregnant bride.

Creating a wedding budget is one of the first things a bride should do. Although it is extremely important, brides often fear the task and in turn do not create one at all. This is a huge mistake. Brides who plan weddings without a wedding budget spend anywhere from twenty to fifty percent more than they anticipated. This can be a financial disaster for whoever is taking care of the wedding bill. Lilac Sash For Wedding Dress The most important thing to remember is to stick to your budget, no matter if you must forgo things you truly want to include. Will you really remember if you had to use cheap ribbon for your wedding favors instead of the designer ribbon you desired? Probably not, and it is certain your guests won't know the difference anyway.

One of the MOST important way is to buy elegant while pretty cheap wedding dress.

A good way to cut down attire costs is to ask your attendants to help pay for their gowns and tuxedos. Brides must be very careful in this area, and be sure about their purchases before hand. Many brides waste money in this category simply because they change their minds about the dcor several times. A bride with a tight budget cannot afford to be unsure and should wait until they are certain before purchasing. Making your own wedding decorations is a great way to save money in this area. This is a good way to save money in the case you might not stick strictly with your budget and need extra funds.sweetheart wedding dresses
