You don't need to have been christened and you don't need to be attending regularly to choose to get married in a church.

You must have your banns read out in church for three Sundays during the three months before the wedding. This is usually done over three consecutive Sundays but doesn't have to be. They are read in the parish where each of you live as well as St Mark's.
