Lucy Shaw trained at Leith’s School of Food and Wine before specialising in sugar work. She studied at Squire’s International School of Cake Decorating and Sugarcraft, with additional study under Maisie Parrish, the internationally renowned sugar art designer and teacher.
The quality and character of Maisie’s work was her principle inspiration, and many of Maisie’s techniques are used in Lucy Shaw Cakes designs. In spring 2006 Lucy took first prize in the novice novelty cake competition at the Squires Cake Decorating, Chocolate and Sugarcraft Exhibition. She established Lucy Shaw Cakes with the aim of using her craftsmanship to create interesting and elegant designs on delicious cake bases.

The flavour of our cakes is as important as the design, and we offer a wide range of recipes to please the most jaded palate. As well as the traditional rich fruit cake and Madeira sponge, we also make a luscious squidgy fruit cake, a modern take on the old favourite, a light fruit cake, cherry and almond sponge, genoise sponge and many others. We are delighted to use any favourite recipe that you might have yourself, so that you can have all the advantages of a home-baked cake with none of the toil associated with making it.
