How to create A Midsummer Night's Dream wedding theme

Struggling to find your dream wedding theme? If you're planning a spring or summer wedding, what could be more romantic than re-creating the magical Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Night's Dream? Think outdoor ceremony, trailing florals, vintage styling and quirky animal touches, and you're pretty much there! Here's our favourite inspiration for A Midsummer Night's Dream wedding...

Dreamy bridal style

A Midsummer Night's Dream is all about whimsical, ethereal characters - half the cast are fairies, after all! Embody the bohemian feel of the play with flowing silks and chiffons, floral detailing and embroidery, and pastel colourways. Finish the look with fresh floral crowns, unstructured boho curls and, if you're feeling brave, bare feet!

A Shakespearean venue

With so many positively dreamy locations to choose from, many venues will perfectly complement the Midsummer Night's Dream theme. We love Gorcott Hall in Warwickshire, a 16th century grade II* listed Tudor hall with so many original features that you can practically feel the history within its walls. It even has 5 acres of beautiful gardens with terraces and its own lake, which is perfect for creating a bohemian garden vibe. See more Warwickshire wedding venues online.

Luscious gardens

Every fairytale and Shakespeare wedding needs magical gardens for the guests to enjoy. From manicured lawns and pristine tree lines to wild blooms in an overgrown enchanted wood - anything goes for this mystical theme. One of our favourite gardens belongs to Handpicked Hotel's Ettington Park; the hotel is a beautiful Neo-gothic mansion set in 40 acres of Stratford Upon-Avon parkland. Located in the heart of Shakespeare countryside in Warwickshire, this hotel is the perfect place to host a Midsummer Night's Dream wedding.

Pretty peonies

All flowers are beautiful, so any bloom can fit the Midsummer Night's theme, but our personal favourite is the gorgeous peony. Romantic and rustic, this bloom oozes elegance and beauty and helps create the perfect enchanted kingdom look.

Twinkling lights

From fairy lights and lanterns to tea lights and candelabras, keep your wedding sparkling with magical lighting. A popular trend is suspended centrepieces; why not combine the two ideas and have suspended lanterns as your centrepieces? If your venue has a garden, make sure there is an abundance of twinkling lights to help create the ultimate fairytale.
