Church of England wedding fees

We have followed the Church of England fee increase debate with interest, not least because Trudi was invited to talk about it on BBC Breakfast News this morning, with a copy of Guides for Brides in hand.

The Church has seen a 4% increase in couples choosing to marry in Church and it is little surprise that they are now checking that their fees are consistent with the work involved.

Most couples will notice very little difference, and certainly not the 40% increase is suggested by the media, as the new fees include essential items such as lighting and administration which had previously been charged as "extras".

In addition to the main wedding fee (£296 in 2012, £415 for weddings taking place after January 2013) churches will continue to offer additional services, such as organists, bell ringers, vergers and heating, at an additional charge.
