Harrogate British Bridal Exhibition starts TODAY!
What are we going to see at today’s British Bridal Exhibition? Well apart from the much awaited 2013 spring collection for brides there is so much more! There is bold day occasion wear with a party and prom theme featuring bright colours teamed with brilliant prints. Then as we move into the evening dresses, the colours become deep and rich with mixtures of fabrics! The one shoulder style is still strong, dressed with a corsage of flowers or a flat bow. The mother of the bride collection is a statement this year! Who says bright colours and statements are just for the young! The bridesmaids fashion is strongly influenced by the ‘wear again’ dress fashion. This means that the dresses are more party themes then traditional bridesmaid’s dresses of yesteryear! Finally menswear is still cool and classic, elegant close cuts give narrow silhouettes. Grey is still currently the big colour but dark blue is standing in the wings for 2013!
Rock the frock
Rock the frock or trash the dress is a new and upcoming style of
photography where brides, after their weddings, destroy their dresses in extreme places such as on a beach, cliff or roof top. It is usually carried out in a highly artistic and symbolic form. The idea is that brides then have these pieces of artwork printed and put on their walls. Here at Guides for brides we think that it is a waste of a good dress. Recycling wedding dresses and second hand bridal gowns are the only option for some brides on a budget to get their dream dress. Also, without handing wedding dresses down through the ages we would not have the stunning vintage wedding dresses which we love so much!
Photo booth fun
The photo booth at our Summer Wedding Fair on Sunday proved to be a huge hit with brides and exhibitors and we would encourage anyone with a little bit left in their budget to hire one for their wedding day.
Almost everyone at the Fair dived behind the booth’s black curtain at some point during the day to pull funny faces at the screen, taking away with them a memento of the day; a printed postcard with their photos and a pre-programmed line of text – in this case details of the wedding fair, but for a wedding it might be the wedding date and the couples’ names.
The best bit? After the wedding, and unbeknown to guests, the bride and groom are given a DVD including all the images!
