An Italian Love Affair

February, the month of love. In Italy, that'd be l'amore. Valentine's Day itself originated here, with Shakespeare penning Romeo and Juliet set in romantic Verona. With spots like the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Capri and Venice seen as idylls, it's no wonder that the popularity of Italy as the backdrop to the ideal wedding has soared.

We'd have to agree that it's second to none for intimacy, declarations and serenades. If you're looking for an exquisite destination wedding, Italy has plenty to offer from it's sprawling coastal shores to it's evergreen olive groves and quaint towns nestled in the hillside...

Desserts

Let's start with something sweet. If you're in love with pastries, cream and dusted icing sugar, Italian specialities and treats are the perfect afters to a post-dinner cappuccino (or shot or espresso). From tiramisu to parfait, biscotti and amaretti - the tastes of Italian desserts are perfectly refined, delicious and well worth sharing. We'd definitely not say no to to a Cannoli right now... pastry with a creamy filling? Heaven!

Beautiful Lace

Italian wedding dresses are to die for, or at least swoon over... Let's face it, the Italians know how to dress and their wedding days are no exception. Bridal beauty reaches dizzying new heights with dreamy veils, sweeping dresses in traditional white and acres of lace. With such beautiful finishes, it's time to get carried away and realise the dress of your dreams to truly look a vision as you drift down the aisle.

That Balcony Scene

Shakespearean Romance was born in Italy. Traditionally, you can visit Juliet's balcony at the Casa di Giulietta where Romeo made declarations of a star-crossed love. Young lovers and honeymooners flock to this location to put the seal on their own love, but the rest of Italy has plenty of hidden courtyards, gardens and alcoves for your storybook romance.

Small Town Rustic

Italy is steeped in a rich history - this heritage is all you'll need to stage a rustic, family affair for your big day. Get lost in the cobbled streets, admire ivy-covered statues and the exposed brickwork of buildings dating back to city foundations. With southern Italy blessed by it's climate, dine al fresco with your guests, for the outdoor wedding which you've always dreamed of. We'd recommend open tables and a plaza or patio to dance the night away...

Amore, amore, amore

As a final word, Italy is the place for romantic gestures. Whether this be riding a vespa together or sharing a big dish of it's cuisine overlooking a starlit harbour, if you're looking for romance, get ready to fall deeply in love with Bella Italia. We're already head over heels!
